My friend’s daughter is 16 and desperate to go on a mission trip, short term, say 2 weeks, in either Easter 2010 or Summer 2010.
She’s had a look at Soul in the City : Durban but needs an adult to accompany her. . . . . . not much good really.
Alternatively, I’ve heard of some organisations who do mission work in the UK, taking teams to cities for a week at a time during the summer to do some community work.
Would appreciate some links, thanks.

The Philadelphia Church Of God

Posted by: Durban Traveller | Comments (0)

The Philadelphia Church of God is a non-denominational Christian church whose members are an eclectic people, of every age, race, educational and economic background. Although its headquarters campus is in Edmond, Oklahoma, its congregations are many and scattered. The church has thousands of members from 67 nations meeting in congregations around the world.
The church undertakes activities to fulfill its stated two-fold mission to 1) preach the gospel of the Kingdom of God, as well as publish the Bible’s warning of the disasters that will precede Christ’s Second Coming because of mankind’s sins, and 2) feed its people spiritually, preparing them for service in the Kingdom of God.
For its primary commission the church sponsors a weekly television program, the Key of David. Presented by church founder and pastor general, Gerald Flurry, the program focuses on how world events are fulfilling biblical prophecies leading to the imminent return of the Messiah, as well as a warning that many of God’s true people are going astray in this end time.
The PCG also publishes a news magazine, the Philadelphia Trumpet, which is produced 10 times a year and is sent free of charge to all who request it. The magazine is published in five languages and over 32 million free copies have been distributed worldwide since it began in 1990.
As part of its witness about the Kingdom of God, the church established a humanitarian arm in 1996 which operates today as the Armstrong International Cultural Foundation. The foundation currently supports an archaeological dig in Jerusalem and hosts a concert series in Edmond. The series is scheduled to move into its new home, Armstrong Auditorium, in early 2010.
To feed its people spiritually, the PCG provides several areas of assistance. Congregations often sponsor social events such as family fun shows, public speaking clubs, campouts and fund-raisers. Members attend an annual seven-day festival called the Feast of Tabernacles at locations around the world, including Australia, India, Belgium, Kenya and the Philippines; this event focuses on building Church unity and strong families through spiritual instruction and wholesome recreational activities.
The PCG publishes Royal Vision, a Christian-living magazine (available free upon request). It also publishes over 60 books and booklets (also available free upon request); a newspaper for Church members; a newsletter for Church ministry; and a weekly synopsis of prophetically important global events.
For the PCG youth, the Church sponsors annual youth camps, regional campouts, and talent exhibitions and publishes a youth magazine. Individual congregations hold regular teen Bible studies and grade-school-age Bible classes and host other youth-oriented events. Qualified high school graduates can attend Herbert W. Armstrong College, a privately supported co-educational institution located at the headquarters campus in Edmond, Oklahoma. Here, young men and women take courses in theology, liberal arts, and applied arts and sciences in preparation for worthwhile lifelong service to God and humanity.
Whether it is hosting a youth camp full of vibrant teens, a conference for ministers from around the world, or a special night of music for the public at large, the PCG’s headquarters campus bustles with activity year-round. Situated 9 miles north of Oklahoma City in north Edmond, the campus is close to the conveniences of the city, yet its 170 acres also offer many of the advantages of rural American life.
PCG congregations from Chicago to Chile and from Durban to Davao share much in common. All meet weekly for Sabbath services, consisting of biblical spiritual instruction and Christian fellowship. Brethren focus on the same unified, biblical body of beliefs and submit to God’s form of government outlined in the Bible. They are encouraged not to form their beliefs out of convenience or the words of men, but to prove each doctrine for themselves from the Bible itself. They pursue the same spiritual goals in an atmosphere of spiritual family.

Come to SA if you want to experience the same. go to facebook: www.facebook.com and spread the word of the truth about South Africa that is not advertised. sa’s main mission is to hide all evidence exposing the state of the Country in order to attract foreigners. Btw, I did not make this great video, someone did, and uploaded it on some unknown website. So I republished it here on Youtube

As you approach the roundabout on the outskirts of Morzine, the town’s intentions and aspirations are immediately clear. ‘Morzine Avoriaz 2018’ is visible to all who circumnavigate it,a message that is repeated throughout the town and on the slopes. But it will be a long wait until July 6th 2011 when the IOC meet in Durban to find out who will host the 23rdWinter Olympic Games in 2018.

This time only three proposals have been submitted – Munich, Germany and Pyeongchang in South Korea. This is the third time the South Koreans have bid for the games, following rejection in 2010 and 2014, so some are tipping them as favourites third time round. However, Annecy is a strong contender as it was way back in 1924 that the Haute-Savoie lasted hosted the Winter Olympics, but back then it was in Chamonix. Chamonix would again play host to some skiing and ice hockey events, Saint-Gervais-les-Bains would have the curling, Flaine would host the snowboarding and ski jumping and La Clusaz the cross-country events, Annecy would house the ice skating, speed skating and Olympic village, whilst Morzine-Avoriaz would host many of the downhill skiing competitions.

Excellent road and rail services, modern facilities and experience in holding  international events such as the Tour de France strengthen this bid, and that’s before the stunning scenery and excellent piste conditions have even been considered. Morzine-Avoriaz is clearly a world class resort. Make the most of your winter break by visiting the town and why not stay with rudechalets™ and their catered or self-catered morzine accommodation?

Notice how the SA Media are trying to cover up the murder of an Austrian ex Footballer on a so called “safe ” estate and the robbery of the German National Team Manager, Oliver Bierhof.
This is what they saw in Germany:
The Austrian who was shot is an ex football player, Peter Burgstaller, but did not belong to the FIFA delegation. He was obviously shot in a holdup at a private golf course while he was doing some golfing exercises there alone. FIFA president Josef “Sepp” Blatter then started commenting on the horrendous crime rate in South Africa. And it is also true, that Oliver Bierhoff’s briefcase, containg two cellphones and his passport, has been stolen while he was breakfasting at the hotel. But there seems to be no link between the shooting and the theft, and no link to the football championship. I didn’t see the interview with the white couple, however, but the rest was broadcast on several news channels, and also reported in newspapers; here’s a link to the Süddeutsche Zeitung (in German) found via Google News:
http://www. sueddeutsche. de/,tt3l2/sport/. . .
(reported around 7 hours ago)
The newspaper also states (without quoting a source, however) that there are 50 murders a day in South Africa.

I just viewed Germany’s main evening news broadcast, the “tagesthemen” on public TV. (They’re available on the internet; I missed them on TV this evening. ) They already shortened the original report: Now there’s only the report about the murder (you see pictures of the golf course where it happened), part of the interview with Blatter, a short notice about the security measures in Durban (1,000 additional police), and the main message now is the result of the drawings. The theft is not even mentioned any longer, nor did they show interviews with any South Africans.
You can watch it here (Flash required); even if you don’t speak German, the pictures tell enough:
http://www. tagesschau. de/multimedia/send. . .
(“Video starten” means “start video”)
Zim – All over the World? It wasnt on in the UK. Doubt if it would find an audience unless you enjoy the Pub Teams up Putney Marsh on a Sunday morning.
Cakes – I wasnt suggesting the Germans were covering up but the SA police and Media were. They described him as an Austrian “Tourist” yet he is a well known footballer. There was no mention of Oliver Bierhof being robbed until it broke in Germany.
However, the point I am making is the lengths to which the ANC and surrogates will go to try and cover up the truth – that this World Cup is going to be a nightmare and should never have been placed in South Africa.
Ayiza – England will qualify but more interestingly I wonder what odds the Bookies will give me that Bafana dont score a goal far less get a point. I would think 4/5.
Zim – Broadcast in 43 European Countries according to your link -not all over the World. I was unaware of it in the UK but it is hardly likely to take precence over the EPL. In fact most English fans think Kaiser Chiefs is a Rock band.
Marrs Attack – Still trying to cover up the sick Society of South Africa by pointing fingers. The Media in South Africa did try and cover up the murder and theft as did the Police who continue to do so and lie through their teeth. Many Germans will avoid SA in 2010 as we give the Country and its violent savages more publicity. Still missing Cape Town? LOL. And onlt fools believe Wackypedia.
MJ – You need to see a Proctologist “crime is everywhere. ” Not on the scale of South Africa. 80 people were murdered yesterday in South Africa and God knows how many women were Raped — Yawn. You talk crap about Germans and the World Cup – show me the link. 2 Italians dead in the last 6 months. Some crisis compared to South Africa when your thugs murdered an Austrian on Saturday. And those kids in London. Can you mention the race of the perpetrators? Foreigners?

Channel: www.sapromo.com SA PROMO Magazine THANKS TO FNB A POSITIVE PERSPECTIVE ON 2010 FIFA WORLD CUP AND A POWERFULL MESSAGE "WE CAN DO IT WITH THE SUPPORT AND POSITIVE ATTITUDE OF THE WHOLE NATION" It all began with Wimpie le Roux, fcb's business unit director for FNB, towards the end of 2006, when Bizcommunity.com ran a column from Moerdyk relating the true life story of an incident he witnessed at Cape Town International, which involved a cynical South African being put in his place by an Australian tourist. "The creative team saw the story on Bizcommunity and at the time they were busy with conceptualising a television campaign to announce fnb's involvement in and support for the 2010 FIFA World Cup," said Le Roux. "They then sought and got permission from Chris to 'redo' the… story as part the FNB advertising campaign. The rest is history." Channel: www.sapromo.com SA PROMO Magazine
